Cycling from Luang Prabang to Pakse covers roughly 1,300 to 1,400 kilometers and serves as the ultimate north-to-south crossing of Laos. This demanding yet deeply rewarding journey transitions from the rugged limestone karsts of the north to the wide, flat plains of the southern Mekong basin,taking you through rural villages, dramatic karst valleys, and more challenging dirt terrains, Striking limestone cliffs, Hmong and Kamu hillside villages, and the outdoor playground of Vang Vieng.Cycling closer to the Mekong River, passing through small regional trading towns. Access points to the Bolaven Plateau and historical Khmer ruins.

Day 1: LuangPrabang cycle to Muangnan

After breakfast, we drive for 25 km on direction to waterfall. start riding on unpaved road along Mekong River through country side and villages, this road connect to other district of LuangPrabang province and only local people along Mekong River ride their motorbikes and truck to LuangPrabang that’s why this road is not busy. We ride without support vehicle today; our support vehicle will drive straight on main road to Muangnan where we stay overnight. We bring lunch pack from LuangPrabang and stop for lunch at the hut of local people at the rice fields or under the tree when we are hungry. Riding today is easy on unpaved road no big climbs, most of the road is undulating; we stop at the villages and rice fields observing their life style. We some time cross the stream and after midway there are some short climbs but the road is very quiet, we ride through the farm and rice fields before we get into the town of Muangnan where we stay overnight.

Distance: 52 km (no support van follow riders, the van will drive on the main road and meet the group in Muangna)

Day 2: Muangnan  – Kasi  - Vangvieng

After breakfast at the guesthouse or local restaurant, we drive from guesthouse heading east on direction to LuangPrabang, start cycle the first 4 km we cycle on undulating road, after that we start the first big climb for 3 km, after the top the road is undulating and descend to the junction to LuangPrabang, we turn right. We stop for snacks and water every 20 km. After the junction the road is more hilly and some big climbs, we transfer for 32 km to the restaurant on top of mountain known as Phoukaolak (9 km mountain) we have lunch at local restaurant on top of mountain, after lunch we cycle the rest 33 km to Kasi, from the restaurant is easy ride downhill to the bottom and we ride on undulating road to Kasi. We transfer to our destination of Vangvieng.

Day 3: Vangvieng – Muang Feuang

After breakfast we transfer out of town for 15 km to avoid traffic, we cycle on road No. 13 north but less traffic because most of the cars and trucks run on express road, we stop for lunch at Hinherb village, after lunch we cycle and turn away from road 13th north to other town called Muang Feuang, where we overnight.

Day 4: Muang Feuang -  Banvang

After breakfast prepare by your guide, we cycle from your guesthouse, riding today is easy, we cycle though Lao villages surrounded by paddy fields and lime stone mountains you can stop for photo when you like, the scenery is very beautiful and the road is almost flat and undulating. After 53 km riding we stop for lunch at local restaurant in a small town. after lunch we keep riding the rest 32 km to our destination, riding after the town is easy ride on undulating road, we ride through some short climbs before our destination locate at a small village.

Day 5: Banvang – Vientiane

Our guide will prepare breakfast for the group, after breakfast we cycle on main road along Mekong River enjoying Mekong River and look at Thailand on other side, we stop for water every 30 km. we keep riding for 70 -80 km before transfer the rest to hotel in Vientiane capital.

Day 6: Vientiane – Paksan – Thasi

After breakfast, we drive out of town, visit Buddha Park, also known as Xieng Khuan (as well as other variations of the spelling), is a sculpture park located 25 km southeast from Vientiane, Laos in a meadow by the Mekong River. Although it is not a temple (Wat), the park may be referred to as Wat Xieng Khuan, since it contains numerous religious images. The park contains over 200 Hindu and Buddhist statues. After visit Buddha Park we drive further along Mekong River look at Thailand, we meet the junction to the main road we start riding on the trail through villages and rice fields for 7 km before we meet the road again and we keep riding to national park known as Nampien Yorapa, https://nampienyorlapa.com/  we have lunch at the restaurant at the park, after enjoying the park and do activities: zip line, canopy walk, walk to waterfall (not include tour price) we transfer the rest on main road to Paksan and to our destination of Thasi ,The provincial capital of Bolikhamsai is Paksan, locates in the middle part of the country a blip of a town that sits at the confluence of the Nam San and Mekong rivers almost opposite the small Thai town of Bueng Kan, visible across the river. The provincial capital is a sleepy transportation hub, mostly just used as a place to stay before heading along the back road to Phonsavan or across the border into Thailand.

Day 7: Thasi – Viengthong

Breakfast at local restaurant and prepare by our guide, after breakfast we ride from our guesthouse head south it is an easy ride on undulating road surrounded by rice paddy fields and lime stone mountains on two side, after 30 km, we start climbing up and down on short hill through height mountains of two sides of the road, we pass only few villages in this part, lunch is prepared by our guide and driver by the road when you are hungry. After 25 km on climbing up and down hills we climb up for 1 km to the top of 756 m above sea level, this is the highest point on this road, after short stop the road is slightly down hills and a little bit short up hills 47 km to our destination of Viengthong district.

Day 8: Viengthong – Konglor village

After breakfast prepare by your guide we cycle from your guesthouse head south to Laksao (kilometer 20th), riding on gentle road and there are some short climbs surrounded by beautiful scenery of mountains. After 50 km riding through the country side villages, we meet the main road from Vietnamese border; we stop for lunch at local restaurant at the junction, after lunch optional transfer 30 km on the main road to Nahin village, start cycle on local road with less traffic and quiet road surrounded by lime stone mountains and paddy fields, it is a good chance for you to stop for photo before we reach Konglor village where we stay overnight. We check in at the local bungalows surrounded by paddy fields and lime stone mountains.

Day 9: Explore Konglor cave and transfer to Thakhek 

After breakfast we take our short walk 2 km to Konglor cave, board on long tail boat, the cave is 8 km long, the boat man with the flash light will take us through the cave with stalactites and stalagmites, after 1 hour, we get off the boat to the village on the other side of the cave, we have lunch at local restaurant, after enjoying the surrounded nature we get on the boat through the cave back to Konglor village.

Day 10: Thakhek – Savannakhet

After breakfast we drive out of town, start riding on direction of Mekong River head south, riding today is easy and the road is mainly flat, we ride through country side villages and paddy fields, all children running out and say: Sabaidee (hello). We stop for lunch at local restaurant. After lunch we keep riding along the country side with less traffic, optional riding all the way to hotel or we transfer 10 km before we get into the town.

Day 11: Savannakhet – Champasak

After breakfast we transfer by private van along the road No. 13 south head to Pakse in southern Laos, we stop for lunch in Pakse, after lunch we drive the rest 40 km to Champasak

Day 12: Champasak –  Muangkhong and four thousand Islands   

After breakfast at your hotel, we transfer 16 km to a small town of Dontalat, we start cycle from this small town head south along the main land through villages and rice paddy fields, the first section the road is mainly flat asphalt road after 24 km, we cycle without support vehicles, our support vehicles will drive back to main road,  we cycle through country side villages by Mekong River, after 5 km on concrete small road, we ride on unpaved road through country side along Mekong and paddy fields, we stop to observe their rural life, this road only for local people cars, we bring lunch pack with us or have lunch at local restaurant after 52 km riding. After lunch we keep riding on country side unpaved road, we cross to the island by local boat after 21 km to Khong Island the biggest Island where we stay overnight, we cycle through the island 17 km to our hotel in town.

Day 13: Muangkhong – Dondet Island

After breakfast, we cycle through the Island and cross local ferry to Don Som Island, we cycle on dirt road through the Island passing villages and rice fields exploring local life style on the Island, we finally reach the south edge of Don Som Island, we cross by local ferry to Don Det Island where we overnight, after check in hotel we cycle along the Island by riding along the old French rail way and cross the rail way bridge to Don Khon Island visit Liphy waterfall. We stop for lunch at local restaurant and free to explore the island before riding back to hotel. ,The Mekong sweeps down towards the Cambodian border. On the eastern border the land rises towards the Anna mite chain through dense jungle, sparsely populated by remote tribes. The Ho Chi Minh trail makes its way down through the forest, littered with the skeletons of trucks and still contaminated with unexploded bombs.  ,Downstream Khong island (four thousand islands), once a French outpost, contains dilapidated colonial houses from the 1920, Khong Island became an important trading point at the beginning of this century and has the distinction of having the only railway line in the country. South of Khong Island the Mekong River almost loses itself among the channels that created thousands of tiny islands in its widest section, before becoming increasingly agitated. Finally at Khone Island, it hurtles over 15 km of falls and rapids to spectacular effect. Along this stretch at Phapeng water fall one arm of the river, suddenly crashes down a 15-metre drop

Day 14: Don Det Island transfer to Pakse

After breakfast we cross to the main land and driver to Pakse, the capital district of Champasak province. Before get into town we drive up further to Borlaven plateau, the most popular coffee growing area of Laos, we climb up into the temperate coffee growing area renowned for its Arabica and Robusta beans. These beans fetch some of the highest coffee prices in the world. The road undulates but has a definite upward feeling. As we climb, we see coffee everywhere as the plantations converge on the side of the road. We stop for lunch at the wonderful Tad Fane resort, which provides a stunning backdrop and the very impressive Tad Fane fall, if you are feeling energetic you can take zip line cross from this side to other side. Alternatively, you can relax in the restaurant and take the wonderful view.
